Minutes of Executive Committee Meeting
Col. William E. Weber Chapter 142, KWVA
October 2, 2018

In Attendance: Commander Becker, Secretary Wienhoff, Treasurer Mount, Chipley, Rinehart, Cody, Kephart, Fox and Malavenda
Unable to Attend: Vice Commander Eader and Murphy

Commander Becker called the meeting to order at 11:25 am.

Minutes of the September 4, 2018 meeting were presented by Secretary Wienhoff and were approved on motion by Mount and second by Fox.

Treasurer's report was presented by Treasurer Mount consisting of Balance Sheet for September 30, 2018, Income and Expense report for September, 2018 and year to date results vs budget were distributed and reviewed. The report was approved on motion by Chipley and second Malavenda.

The following matters were discussed:

A lengthy email report from Jim Fisher was received by the Commander. Of note was the discussion of National KWVA membership which declined by 874. The Commander offered a printed copy if anyone wanted to read it.

The Commander also received a letter from William Alli, a director of the Korean War Memorial Foundation seeking fundraising help from Maryland Chapters for the Wall of Remembrance. Copy will be forwarded to Priscilla since she has been very involved in the Wall of Remembrance fundraising.

The Republic of Korean Navy Cruise Training Task Group composed of 2 ships and midshipmen is coming to Baltimore. They are having an Onboard Reception at 1830 hours on Wed. October 17. A large contingent of Chapter members and wives are attending and a 15-passenger van provided by the Korean Embassy will leave AMVETS parking lot at 3:30 pm.

The Commander thanked the members who participated in presenting the flags at the POW/MIA observance at Monument Park on September 15.

On October 5, Legion Post 11 on Taney Avenue will host a V.A. claims assistance program with V.A. representatives on hand. On September 6 a general V.A assistance program will be held.

Hagerstown chapter 312 has extended an invitation to a luncheon on October 6 at the Hagerstown American Legion on Northern Ave. at 12 noon to be followed by a ceremony at their monument at 2 pm. Tiger and Yumi Hogan will speak.

We will be presenting the Thank You plaque to the Golden Gears Car Club this evening at 6:30pm at the Elks Lodge. Come in class A uniform if you wish to participate.

Meeting was adjourned at 12:05 pm.

Minutes of Member Meeting
Col. William E. Weber Chapter 142, KWVA
October 10, 2018

Commander Becker called the meeting to order at 2:30 pm.

The meeting was opened with a prayer by Chaplain Rinehart followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.

Minutes of September 12, 2018 meeting were read by Secretary Wienhoff and were approved on motion by Col. Weber and second by Chipley.

Treasurer's report was presented by Treasurer Mount consisting of balance sheet for September 30, 2018 and income and expense report for September 2018. Treasurer Mount noted that the year to date expenses included $380 toward the expense of the Chapter picnic. The report was approved on motion by Col. Weber and second Malavenda.

Welfare Chairman Rinehart reported get well cards were sent to Annelie Weber, Wendell Murphy and Lucian Falconer.

The following matters were discussed:

  • Our annual Picnic was held on September 15th at Dutch’s Daughter’s and was a good event. Approximately 50 members, family and guests attended.
  • The Chapter provided a Color Guard for the POW/MIA Remembrance program on September 21, 2018. Commander thanked those who participated.
  • On October 5th & 6th the Legion at Taney Avenue hosted a V.A. Claims Assistance program. Commander Becker attended and reported the service was thorough and responsive.
  • Hagerstown Chapter 312 had a luncheon at 12 noon on October 6th at the Hagerstown American Legion on Northern Ave., followed by a ceremony at the Chapter’s monument at 2 pm. Tiger and Yumi Hogan spoke. Col. Weber said he attended and that it was a fine program.

  • An email was received from Mrs. Cho inquiring about fundraising for the Wall of Remembrance and indicating her son Zander would be happy to serve as a bugler for events.
  • Col. Weber spoke about the "410" fundraising program for the wall.

Commander Becker won the 50/50.

Motion to adjourn made by Col. Weber, second by Cody and the meeting was adjourned at 3:20 pm with a salute to the flag.
