Minutes of Executive Committee Meeting
Col. William E. Weber Chapter 142, KWVA
February 5, 2019

In Attendance: Vice Commander Eader, Secretary Wienhoff, Treasurer Mount, Chipley, Cody, Fox,Rinehart, Kephart, Murphy and Malavenda
Unable to Attend: Commander Becker
Member Attending: Flores

Vice Commander Eader called the meeting to order at 11:40 am.

Minutes of the January 2, 2019 meeting were presented by Secretary Wienhoff and were approved on motion by Chipley and second by Mount.

Treasurer's report was presented by Treasurer Mount consisting of Balance Sheet for January 31, 2019 and Income and Expense report for January 2019. After review, the report was approved on motion by Murphy and second Fox.

The following matters were discussed:

Vice Commander Eader asked if anyone had any current information on the condition of Mrs. Weber since she had another fall and suffered another broken hip. No one had any and he was going to contact Priscilla to see if she had any current information.

Members were reminded of the 4 Chaplains service which will be presented by the Fort Detrick Chaplain at Legion Post 11 Sunday.

Future plans for the Chapter were discussed and what/who would like to take charge of voluminous early Chapter history contained in the storage locker.

Vice Commander discussed a plan to place the Korea Reborn book in Frederick County middle school libraries if sufficient copies can be obtained.

Murphy suggested consideration might be give to Chapter members touring local Monuments and Military Museums by bus.

Members attending were advised of the 10% discount Lowes provides to veterans. A card can be obtained for use each time a purchase is made.

Treasurer Mount reported that necessary tax forms have been filed.

New Business:

Secretary Wienhoff noted that the Chapter has a [reserve] and made a motion to donate to the Chapter's Scholarship fund at the Community Foundation. Motion was seconded by Treasurer Mount and approved. The motion will be presented to member at the Meeting on February 9 for approval.

A motion to adjourn was made by Chipley, second by Fox and the meeting adjourned at 12:20 pm.

Minutes of Member Meeting
Col. William E. Weber Chapter 142, KWVA
February 13, 2019

Vice Commander Eader called the meeting to order at 2:30 pm.

The meeting was opened with a prayer by Chaplain Rinehart followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.

Minutes of the January 8, 2019 meeting were read by Secretary Wienhoff and were approved on motion by Mount and second by Fox.

Treasurer's report was presented by Treasurer Mount consisting of balance sheet for January 31, 2019 and income and expense report for January 2019. The report was approved on motion by Chipley and second Fox.

Welfare Chairman Rinehart reported a get-well card was sent to Annelie Weber.

The following matters were discussed:

  • Vice Commander Eader reported he had attended the wake of member Lucian Falconer on February 11.
  • Members were informed Robert Flores, who had been very active in the Chapter, moved to Altona, Pennsylvania.
  • Chipley and Wienhoff commented on the Four Chaplains Memorial service presented by Legion Post 11 on February 10th. Member Flores also attended.
  • Cody observed that the Frederick Fire and Ice event draws a large crowd and might be something the Chapter could use as a fundraising event.
  • Wienhoff indicated no word has been received from the Golden Gears Car Club as to whether the Chapter will again be sponsored at their Veterans Car Show on June 29, 2019.?
  • Murphy suggested that the Chapter sponsor some bus trips to monument and memorials be considered since the Chapter was not providing benefits to the members. The matter was discussed and the Vice Commander encouraged him to work up some recommendations. Treasurer Mount observed that the Chapter does underwrite some of the costs of Chapter Member Events.

New Business:

Vice Commander Eader reported that a motion had been approved by the Executive Committee on February 5, 2019 to contribute [funds] to the Chapterís Scholarship Fund at the Community Foundation of Frederick County. The action by the Executive Committee was now being submitted to the membership for approval. After lengthy discussion, the action of the Executive Committee was approved by majority vote of the members.

50/50 was won by Fox.

Motion was made by Chipley, second by Malavenda to adjourn the meeting and the meeting was closed with a salute to the flag at 3:15 pm.
