Minutes of Executive Committee Meeting
Col. William E. Weber Chapter 142, KWVA
September 5, 2017

In Attendance: Commander Mount, Vice Commander Becker, Secretary Wienhoff, Treasurer Eader, Chipley, Fox, Rinehart, Malavenda Kephart and Cody
Unable to Attend: Murphy
Member Attending: Davis

Commander Mount called the meeting to order at 11:35 am.

Minutes of the August 1, 2017 meeting were presented by Secretary Wienhoff and were approved on a motion by Chipley, second by Eader.

The Treasurerís Report consisting of the Balance Sheet for August 31, 2017 and Income and Expense Report for August 2017 was presented by Treasurer Eader with an explanation of each income and expense item by. The report was approved by a motion of Malavenda, second by Fox.

Commander Mount reviewed the following items:

The Rocky Ridge Parade went well and we all enjoyed the meal at Richardís and Priscillaís. Thanks to Glenn, Reggie, Fred and Wendell for providing vehicles. The Chapter won a plaque for our participation and Priscilla will bring to us at the picnic.

September 15 is POW/MIA Recognition Day. Chipley was asked to check with the Vietnam Veterans to determine if they will have their usual event on that day at Monument Park. If so, we will attend in class A uniform.

Our Chapter picnic will be held at Dutchís Daughter at a fee of $15 per member and guest starting at noon September 16th. Picnic food is the menu. Reservation form is in the July Newsletter. Yumi Hogan has been invited to speak. Also, BG Pyo and his wife will be our guest.

The KWVA National Convention is being held in Norfolk, VA on October 4 - 8. Information on attending is in the Graybeards or the KWVA.org where you will find full details.

The Brunswick Parade is on November 5th. Four convertibles and the truck should be available.

There will be a Veterans Celebration on November 9th at Citizens.

There will be a formal ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Amphitheater for which KWVA has been allotted 180 seats. Following this there is a reception at the Women in Military History Museum and at 4 pm there will be a wreath laying ceremony at the Korean War Memorial. A bus will be available. Space has been requested for Mount, Wienhoff, Eader, Becker and wife, Chipley, Murphy, Fox and wife, Rinehart, Malavenda, Cody, Kephart and Miller. Let Commander know if you want to attend. National KWVA has asked local Chapter to help with the expenses that will be incurred. A motion was made by Eader, seconded by Malavenda, to donate $200 toward the cost of the event. Motion approved and will be presented to the membership at the September 13th meeting for approval.

The Chapter Christmas Party is planned for December 13, 2017.

Old Business: - none

New Business: - Eader questioned whether it would be feasible to conduct a fundraiser for the Wall of Remembrance. No decision was forthcoming.

There being no further business to discuss the Commander adjourned the meeting at 12:25 pm.

Minutes of Member Meeting
Col. William E. Weber Chapter 142, KWVA
September 13, 2017

Commander Mount called the meeting to order at 2:30 pm.

Chaplain Rinehart offered the opening prayer and the members pledged allegiance to the flag.

Minutes of the August 9, 2017 meeting were read by Secretary Wienhoff and were approved by motion of Malavenda, second by Rinehart.

The Treasurerís report was presented by Treasurer Eader consisting of the Balance Sheet and Income and Expense for August 2017. After review, the report was approved by motion of Chipley, second by Malavenda.

Welfare Chairman Reinhart was asked to send a get well card to Rosemarie Boore. Commander Mount stated that if anyone knows of someone who should receive a card, call Gene.

Commander Mount reported on the following matters:

  • The Rocky Ridge Parade went well and we all enjoyed the meal at Priscillaís and Richardís. Thanks to Fred, Reggie, Glenn and Wendell for providing vehicles. We won a plaque for our participation and Priscilla will bring it to the picnic.
  • We will participate in the POW/MIA Ceremony at 7pm at Monument Park. Be there at 7pm in Class A uniform.
  • The Chapter 142 Picnic will be held at Dutchís Daughter Restaurant at a fee of $15 on September 16 at noon. Details and a reservation form are in the July - September Newsletter. Picnic fare will be served. Yumi Hogan has been invited to speak and General Pyo and his wife will be our guest.
  • October 4 - 8 is the dates of the National Convention are being held in Norfolk, Virginia. Look in Graybeards or the National website for full details.
  • We have been asked to provide a Color Guard for a Middletown High School Volley Ball game and fundraiser for the local AMVETS Post on October 5th. Nothing is final as yet.
  • The Brunswick Parade will be held on November 5, 2017.
  • There will be a Veteran Day event at Citizens Nursing Home on November 9th. Event details have not been provided.
  • On Nov. 11 there will be a Ceremony in the Amphitheater at the Tomb of Unknown at Arlington Cemetery and a reception following at Women in Military History Museum and subsequent wreath laying at our DC Memorial. Bus will be provided. KWVA is the host organization this year. Space has been requested for Mount, Wienhoff, Eader, Becker and wife, Chipley, Murphy, Malavenda, Cody, Kephart, Fox and wife and Miller.
  • The Chapter Christmas Party will be held on December 13, 2017. Details will be forthcoming. Program items were discussed.

Old Business: none

New Business:

  • Commander Mount stated that the Executive Committee had voted to donate $200 to National KWVA to help pay for expenses for November 11 events that needed to be approved at the membership meeting. The action of the Executive Committee was approved.

Cody won the 50/50.

The meeting was adjourned at 3:15 pm with a salute to the flag.
