Minutes of Executive Committee Meeting
Col. William E. Weber Chapter 142, KWVA
June 5, 2018

In Attendance: : : Commander Mount, Vice Commander Becker, Secretary Wienhoff, Treasurer Eader, Chipley, Rinehart, Malavenda and Fox
Unable to Attend: Cody, Murphy and Kephart

Commander Mount called the meeting to order at 11:40 am.

Minutes of the May 1, 2018 meeting were presented by Secretary Wienhoff and were approved on a motion by Fox, second by Malavenda.

The Treasurerís Report consisting of the Balance Sheet for May 31, 2018 and Income and Expense Report for May 2018 was distributed. Treasurer Eader reviewed the Income and Expense for May 2018. The report was approved by a motion of Chipley, second by Malavenda.

The following upcoming events were discussed:

Megan Reesman, a Girl Scout, is working on her Gold Award. She seeks help with her project of interviewing veterans. Members can help by visiting American Legion Post 11 on June 11 between the hours of 12:00 to 3:00 when she will be conducting interviews.

The Golden Gears Car Club is again sponsoring our Chapter at a Veterans Recognition event on June 30, 2018 at the Lewistown Fire Company Hall. The venue has changed from the previous Home Run Car Show at Harry Grove Stadium to a car show and bingo at the Lewistown Fire Hall. The Chapter has been asked to provide a presentation of Colors and an information tent at the car show and assistance at the bingo. Please mark your calendars as this will be our big fund raising event.

Hannah Kim will be visiting the Korean War Memorial in Frederick on July 21, 2018. Her nationwide tour "727" started in San Francisco on April 28, 2018. Vice Commander Becker is heading up our preparations for her visit here in Frederick. The program will start at 11am. Help will be needed the day before to spruce up the monument and the morning of the event before the program starts. Letters to dignitaries will be mailed June 21st.

Old Business:

A reminder that revisit tours will end in 2020.

New Business:

The Secretary will announce the following slate of officers for the year beginning July 1, 2018:

Minutes of Member Meeting
Col. William E. Weber Chapter 142, KWVA
June 13, 2018

Commander Mount called the meeting to order at 2:30 pm.

Chaplain Rinehart offered the opening prayer which was followed by the pledged allegiance to the flag.

Minutes of the May 9, 2018 meeting were read by Secretary Wienhoff and were approved on a motion by Col. Weber, second by Malavenda.

The Treasurerís Report consisting of the Balance Sheet for May 31, 2018 and Income and Expense Report for May 2018 was presented. The report was approved by a motion of Malavenda, second by Col. Weber.

Welfare Chairman Rinehart reported a get well card was sent to Reg Kephartís wife.

The following upcoming events were discussed:

  • A Flag Retirement ceremony will be held at AMVETS farm at 6 pm on June 14. The event will be conducted by AMVETS Post 2 and Legion Post 11. The Legion Riders will be the color guard.
  • On June 25 there will be a wreath laying at the Washington, DC KWVA Monument followed by a luncheon at the Ambassadorís residence. A bus will be provided. Seven members and two wives plan to attend.
  • The Golden Gears Car Club is again sponsoring our Chapter at a Veterans Recognition event on June 30, 2018 at the Lewistown Fire Company Hall. The venue has changed from the previous Home Run Car Show at Harry Grove Stadium to a car show and bingo at the Lewistown Fire Company Hall. The Chapter has been asked to provide a presentation of Colors and an information tent at the car show and assistance at the bingo. Please mark your calendars as this will be our big fund raising event. Help will be needed from 9:30 am to 8 PM.
  • Hannah Kim will be visiting the Korean War Memorial in Frederick on July 21, 2018. Vice Commander Becker is heading up our preparations for her visit here in Frederick. Invitation letters are going out this week and help will be needed for cleaning the monument and area around the monument, placing no parking signs for reserved parking and setting up the day of the event.
  • We have been asked to participate in the Crestwood parade on July 4, 2018. Assemble at 9:30 am at the clubhouse.

  • A reminder that Korea revisit tours will end in 2020.

  • The Commander asked three times if there were any additional nominations. There being none, he asked the secretary to cast a ballot for the slate of officers proposed which was done. Executive Committee member Chipley then swore in the Officers for their term of office.

Col. Weber won the 50/50 and donated his share back to the Chapter.

A Plaque of Appreciation for his outstanding service was presented to Commander Mount by incoming Commander Becker.

Meeting was adjourned at 3:20pm with a salute to the Flag.
