Minutes of Executive Committee Meeting
Col. William E. Weber Chapter 142, KWVA
September 4, 2018

In Attendance: Commander Becker, Vice Commander Eader, Treasurer Mount, Chipley, Rinehart, Cody, Kephart, Fox and Malavenda
Unable to Attend: Secretary Wienhoff and Murphy

Commander Becker called the meeting to order at 11:35 am.

Minutes of Aug. 7, 2018 were presented by acting secretary Chipley and were approved on motion by Mount and second by Malavenda

Treasurer's report was presented by Treasurer Mount consisting of balance sheet for August 31, 3018 and income and expense report for August, 2018 were distributed and reviewed. The report was approved on motion by Eader and second Malavenda.

The following matters were discussed:

Hagerstown chapter 312 has extended an invitation on Oct, 6th for a luncheon at 12 noon at the Hagerstown American Legion on Northern Ave. followed by a ceremony at their monument at 2 pm Tiger and Yumi Hogan will speak. Chipley said he would go.

Also on Oct. 6th the Legion at Taney Avenue will host a V.A. Claims Assistance program from 0900-1500 to assist vets with claims.

All members are requested to bring their Korean Reborn books to the next chapter meeting on September 12 so we can take a photo and send a thank you to Story Rock Publishers and Graybeards

The Republic of Korean Navy Cruise Training Task Group composed of 2 ships and midshipmen is coming to Baltimore. They are having an Onboard Reception at 1830 hours on Wed. October 17. Only a limited number can attend, If interested call Capt. SONG 202-939-5692 or cell 202-531-0300 email navsong@korea.kr

Rami Hyun, a Korean photographer, is visiting Korean veterans across the U.S. to take photos and give to us at no cost.. More info will come later.

Picnic is coming up September 15. Attire will be casual dress, no shorts or sandals. We will read the names of deceased since 2016 with bell and taps.

Chipley announced that Bob Wisner called and said Buck passed away at about 0940 this morning (Tues).

Meeting was adjourned at 12:35 pm.

Minutes of Member Meeting

September 12, 2018

Commander Becker called the meeting to order at 2:30 pm.

The meeting was opened with a prayer by Chaplain Rinehart followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.

Minutes of Aug. 8, 2018 meeting were read by Secretary Wienhoff and were approved on motion by Malavenda and second by Rinehart.

Treasurer's report was presented by Treasurer Mount consisting of balance sheet for August 31, 2018 and income and expense report for August, 2018. The report was approved on motion by Chipley and second Kephart.

Welfare Chairman Rinehart reported get well cards were sent to Irene Malavenda and Margo Kephart. Eader requested a card be sent to Wendell Murphy.

The following upcoming events were discussed:

  • An award was won by our entry in the Rocky Ridge Parade and Priscilla will bring to the picnic.
  • Picnic is coming up September 15. Attire will be casual dress, no shorts or sandals. Eader will read the names of deceased since 2016, Fox will ring the bell and Chipley will play the recording of taps. Fifty have signed up for the event.
  • On September 21, the Vietnam Veterans Chapter will conduct a POW/MIA Remembrance Ceremony at Monument Park at 7pm. We have been asked to provide a Color Guard for the event. Be at the memorial by 6:30pm.
  • On Oct. 6th the Legion at Taney Avenue will host a V.A. Claims Assistance program from 0900-1500 to assist vets with claims.
  • Hagerstown Chapter 312 has extended an invitation to attend a luncheon at 12 noon on October 6th at the Hagerstown American Legion on Northern Ave., followed by a ceremony at the Chapter’s monument at 2 pm. Tiger and Yumi Hogan will speak. Chipley said he would go.

  • Chipley announced that Buck Wisner passed away yesterday. There will be a Final Salute at 6pm on September 9th.

  • Christmas Party will be held on December 12, 2018 at Dutch’s Daughter Restaurant. Menu same as last year.

Commander Becker won the 50/50.

Motion to adjourn was made by Fox, seconded by Chipley and the meeting was adjourned at 3:25 pm with a salute to the Flag.
