Minutes of Executive Committee Meeting
Col. William E. Weber Chapter 142, KWVA
January 3, 2017

In Attendance: Commander Mount, Vice Commander Becker, Secretary Wienhoff, Treasurer Eader, Chipley, Knoebel, Cody, Rinehart and Kephart
Unable to Attend: Fox, Malavenda
Member Attending: Murphy

Commander Mount called the meeting to order at 11:40 am.

Minutes of the December 6, 2016 meeting were presented by Secretary Wienhoff and were approved on a motion by Eader, second by Knoebel.

The Treasurer’s report was presented by Treasurer Eader consisting of the Balance Sheet and Income and Expense for December 2016 and the financial results for the year 2016 versus Budget. After review, the report was approved by motion of Knoebel, second by Chipley.

Commander Mount reviewed the following items:

  • General Pyo is interested in recognizing the passing of Korean War Veterans and sent flowers to Louis Cole’s widow. He also sent flowers to Commander Mount thanking him for the information regarding Citizens/Monteview Korean War Veterans. Military attaches from the Korean Embassy, Marine Lt. Col. Lee, Kangwook and Navy Commander Lee, Tagoon, delivered flowers to 6 KWV Veterans at Citizens and 7 at Monteview. This occurred as a follow up to a conversation Commander Mount had with General Pao at the Christmas Luncheon.
  • Two Life Member CDs were renewed with State Farm for 15 months at 1.15% APR and a $1 bonus was provided for each.
  • A fund raiser will be conducted at a gun show at the Fairgrounds on January 21 and 22, 2017 with the funds being raised for support of veterans at local nursing homes. A signup sheet was circulated for two hour slots during show hours.
  • Member Knoebel provided Commander Mount with a report from the Department of Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency which provided the Progress in Korea as of December 6, 2016. A copy will be posted on our website and included in the Spring Newsletter.
  • The Secretary noted that a card received from National KWVA to call and update member information also entails a sales pitch to purchase a Member Directory.

Minutes of Member Meeting
Col. William E. Weber Chapter 142, KWVA
January 11, 2017

Commander Mount called the meeting to order at 2:30 pm.

Chaplain Rinehart offered the opening prayer and the members pledged allegiance to the flag.

Minutes of the November 9, 2016 meeting were read by Secretary Wienhoff and approved on a motion by Knoebel, second by Malavenda.

The Treasurer’s report was presented by Treasurer Eader consisting of the Balance Sheet and Income and Expense for December 2016. He also reported on the financial results of the Christmas Lunch. After review, the report was approved by motion of Knoebel, second by Fox.

Welfare Chairman Rinehart reported he had sent get well cards to Louis Bell, Louis Cole, Tony Malavenda and Lou Surratt and a sympathy card to the Louis Cole family.

Commander Mount reviewed the following items:

The Christmas Party was a big success and Kern Thornton generously donated back to the Chapter $50 of his winnings.

The sales tax return for 2016 has been filed and $29.64 owed has been paid.

The report received on the results of KIA remains identified by the Department of Defense Agency involved was reviewed and discussed.

The assignments of members who volunteered to work at the upcoming Gun Show on January 21st and 22nd were reviewed so all involved knew their time slot.

As a result of a conversation between the Commander, General Pyo and Dottie Johnson and further discussion with the head of the Auxiliary at Citizens/Montiview resulted in the Korean Embassy proving flowers to the Korean War Veterans there which were personally delivered by Marine Lt. Col. Lee and Navy Commander Lee from the Korean Embassy. Flowers were also provided to the family of Louis Cole and Commander Mount was given a bouquet of flowers.

Treasurer Eader brought a box of donuts for everyone to share in celebration of Richard Knoebel’s 91st Birthday.

Secretary Wienhoff won the 50/50 and he donated his share back to the Chapter.

A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Malavenda, seconded by Knoebel and the meeting was adjourned at 3:10 pm with a salute to the flag.
